This rare shirt is handmade from start to finish. Following Kardo’s credo “Thoughtfully designed. Beautifully and responsibly crafted,” its fabric was woven on handlooms from hand-spun yarns. The graphics are woodblock printed, an artistic process with patterns carved into wooden blocks that transfer the dye to the fabric. Each pattern is hand-cut by a single person, each shirt stitched by one individual. Located in India, Kardo prides itself on slow, deliberate processes by dedicated artisans. They honor traditional weaving, dying, and printing techniques and exemplify the concept that “It’s not where it’s made that matters, but who made it and under what conditions.”
The lightweight 3.5-oz. 100% cotton is airy and cool, a natural result of handloom weaving. The slightly boxy cut, shorter torso, and straight hem for untucked wear all contribute to warm-weather comfort. Dual shoulder pleats provide ease of motion. Natural coconut buttons secure the front and the single chest pocket.
With their entirely handmade nature, slight variations in color and patterns will make each shirt unique.
